Can you make this from Pinterest? here’s why it’s not that simple
It’s a question wedding suppliers get asked all the time: “Can you make this from Pinterest?”
And the short answer? Sometimes, yes. But usually, it’s not quite as simple as it looks.
Pinterest is an incredible place to find inspiration for your wedding. It’s full of beautiful ideas, thoughtful details and creative ways to bring your vision to life. It’s often where couples start when imagining how they want their wedding to look and feel.
But there’s a difference between being inspired by an image and recreating it exactly. And when it comes to bespoke wedding signage and styling, there’s a little more to consider than what you can see in a photograph.
What Pinterest doesn't show you
A photograph might show you the finished design, but it rarely tells you the full story behind it.
Who originally designed it? What materials were used? How was it constructed? And how large is it in real life?
A beautiful seating plan might look effortless in a photograph, but behind it could be hours of design work, specialist materials, careful construction and plenty of problem-solving to get everything just right.
There’s also the question of how the original image was created. Was it handmade? Professionally photographed and styled? Or is it an AI-generated image of something that may never have existed in reality?
With AI-generated wedding imagery becoming increasingly common, it can be difficult to know what is actually achievable from a single reference image.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't use Pinterest for inspiration. It simply means that one photograph rarely tells the whole story.
The materials, scale and details matter
Something that looks beautiful on screen might need a completely different approach when translated into a real wedding setting.
The size of a sign, the finish of the material, the way lettering is applied and even the lighting around it can all change the final result.
For example, a design featuring layered acrylic, intricate lettering or multiple finishes might look simple at first glance. But recreating it could involve several stages of production, specialist equipment and a significant amount of hands-on work.
Sometimes, the original design can be recreated using similar materials and techniques. Other times, adjustments are needed to make sure the finished piece is practical, safe, structurally sound and suited to your venue.
The aim isn't simply to make something that looks similar in a photograph. It's to create something that works beautifully in the space it was designed for.
Every wedding deserves its own story
Your venue, colour palette, flowers, stationery and overall styling are unique to you. Even if you're drawn to an image from another wedding, the setting and details surrounding it will be different.
A design that looks perfect in one venue might not have the same impact in another. The proportions might be wrong, the colours might compete with the surroundings, or the style might not quite fit with the rest of your wedding.
This is where bespoke design makes a difference.
Rather than taking an idea and reproducing it exactly, the process is about understanding what you love about it. Is it the shape? The typography? The colours, the layout or the way it works alongside the flowers?
Once those details are understood, they can become the starting point for something designed specifically for your wedding.
You might end up with a similar overall look, or the original inspiration might lead you somewhere completely different. Either way, the result should feel considered and connected to your day, rather than like a design that has simply been lifted from someone else's wedding.
So, can you recreate something from Pinterest?
If the design is achievable, the materials are suitable and the original idea can be adapted to your requirements, there may be a way to recreate something very similar.
There will also be times when an exact replica isn't practical, isn't possible with the materials available, or simply isn't the best solution for your wedding.
In those cases, it's about finding an alternative that captures the same feeling or design details while making sense for your venue, your styling and your budget.
And that's an important part of the bespoke process. It's not just about saying yes to an idea; it's about working out how to bring it to life in the right way.
The best weddings aren't copied. They're inspired.
Pinterest is a brilliant starting point, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with arriving at a consultation with a folder full of saved images.
In fact, reference images can be incredibly useful. They help communicate your style, highlight the details you love and give your supplier a better understanding of the look you're hoping to achieve.
The magic happens when those ideas are brought together and developed into something personal to you. I love taking inspiration from different places and using it to help shape bespoke wedding signage and styling details that feel right for each couple, their venue and their day. Because your wedding deserves to feel personal, not predictable.
